Samsung’s ChatON messaging service brings free texting to Android, iOS and BlackBerry

Samsung have unveiled their latest iteration of mobile communications service, ChatON, taking instant messaging to the next level.

Available on iOS, Android and BlackBerry devices thanks to a downloadable application, ChatON’s latest feature set includes an enhanced group chat functionality, user-animated messages, animated emoticons, and social network services.

  • Enhanced Group Chat – Broadcast messages can be sent to a number of people at once
  • Trunk – A ChatON Contents Sharing Box, where users can leave comments and share contents to various social networking sites
  • Animation Message – Users can create their own animated messages with original drawings, texts, audio content and changing background images
  • Anicon (Animated Emoticon) – Users can download various animated emoticons from chaton.com
  • Buddies Say – Users can post comments directly to their friends’ profile
  • Interaction Rank – Users can check how often then chat with their friends via the progress bar

Throughout the London 2012 Olympic Games – as Samsung were one of the events’ main sponsors – the application allowed its users to add the ‘Olympics Buddy’ for real-time breaking news, schedules and medal tables.
