Twitter reveal iOS, Android updates; refreshes profile pages, Header Photo feature
Twitter has today unveiled refreshed profile pages including a new Header Photo feature. Users may now upload an all-new header photo on mobile apps for iPad, iPhone and Android, or online via Twitter.com. The header image will appear whenever anyone views a users’ profile online or via Twitter’s official apps.
The new header image will appear above a users’ tweets in a bid “to know people better through their pictures.”
Photo Streams now appear below anyone’s most recent Tweets on iPhone, Android and iPad, enabling users to swipe through the stream to see the photos that have been shared, or tap any thumbnail to view photos fullscreen.
@TODAYshow, @RyanSeacrest and @BreakingNews are already sporting the brand new header feature on their Twitter profiles.
All of the mobile applications now include the new Twitter header image, which we spoke about earlier on today, as well as offering the ability to customise it within the application itself. Photo streams are included, with the ability to swipe through photo streams with ease. On all platforms, various bugs have been fixed and the whole application has received a polish, just to keep things running smoothly.
As far as the Android application goes, pinch-to-zoom has been added, too, making photo viewing that bit easier.
Whether you already have the application or not, Twitter is free to download on iOS and Android devices, as well as Blackberry and Windows Phone, though this update does not affect that latter two at time of writing.
