Nigeria’s Flamingoes start their battle for the Fifa U-17 Women’s World Cup live on SuperSport

With the dust of the recently concluded Fifa U-20 Women’s World Cup hardly settled, another sand storm is brewing in Azerbaijan with the imminent start of the U-17 edition of the Women’s World Cup.

All 32 matches of the World Cup will be broadcast live on SuperSport and in HD starting on Saturday 22.

In the third edition of the women’s continental showpiece event at U17 level, African representatives, Nigeria and Ghana, have been ever present at the tournament while Gambia will get to rub shoulders with the best in the world at this level for the first time.

Nigeria’s Flamingoes have shown steady progress in the tournament. A group stage exit in the inaugural tournament in New Zealand 2008 was followed by a quarterfinal berth in Trinidad and Tobago 2010.

Their return to the tournament this will buoyed by the spirit of their counterparts, the Super Falcons, who earlier this month fell agonisingly close of a second consecutive final appearance at the U-20 World Cup.

Nigeria face Canada in a Group A encounter at Lankaran on Tuesday.

Watch the Flamingoes in action on SS5 at 12:55pm WAT live on SuperSport. Watch sport via live streaming on supersport.com.
