talkSPORT signs Capital One Cup Rights Agreement

Talksport has signed a three-year partnership with The Football League. The broadcaster has become the official commercial radio partner of the organisation outside the UK and will broadcast selected matches from the Football League Cup, known as the Capital One Cup from this season, on its new international service Talksport Live.

Those games will each be broadcast in English, Spanish and Mandarin from Talksport Live’s London studios, alongside its blanket Premier League coverage which has also begun this season.

Talksport began its domestic UK coverage of the Capital One Cup when it broadcast commentary on Manchester United versus Newcastle on Wednesday evening.

Moz Dee, Talksport’s programme director, said: “Live commentary has proved to be a huge draw for our listeners both in the UK and internationally and further adds to our credibility as the leading sports radio broadcaster as we now offer more live football than ever before.”

Richard Heaselgrave, The Football League’s chief commercial officer, added: “This agreement represents another significant boost for the Capital One Cup as we take live commentary to millions of loyal Talksport listeners across the UK and beyond.”

Asuquo Eton founded talkmediaafrica.com, now one of the most visited TV, music, tech and features website, in 2011. He is also a social media analyst, media and entertainment consultant.
