Nigeria’s Got Talent: Abuja, Calabar and Benin Auditions

Last week we got to see what Lagos, the centre of excellence had to offer in terms of producing talents that would compete for the grand prize of ten million naira. And did Lagos bring it on? Yes. Nigeria’s Got Talent hopefuls didn’t fail to deliver as they brought their ‘A’ game determined to impress the judges and make it through to the next round.

Moving on to other major cities, Abuja, Calabar and Benin City were the three cities under focus on episode five. Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory had quite a number of talents on display with the likes of Big Star Acrobatic Group, which comprised of a variety of acts but were too disorganized for the judges to give them the yes nod. 48yr old Ndanyomo Ogbonaya also tried his luck by singing but failed. After these two rejections by the judges, Francis Okpaleke tried to break the deadlock with his hand-saxophone skill. Unfortunately he didn’t. Udezeagwa Ezedi with a similar talent as Francis got on stage, performed and broke the deadlock by getting three yeses from the judges.

Next up was Peter Nweke who mimicked a lady and did not do justice to what he termed as comedy. Rounding up Abuja auditions was John Uket who sang a rendition of Asa’s hit single ‘If you ask me’. He impressed and got the desired yeses.

Jude Got Kate Crying

The city of Calabar unleashed it’s talents as contestants trooped into the audition centre. First act that caught everyone’s attention was a duo called Adult Babies. From the name you can tell what the duo is all about but it’s not until you watch them perform and judge for yourself. Their performance was hilarious and got the audience including the judges laughing. As expected, the judges were elated and sent them through to the next round.

Next acts were Dan Samuel Okon and Felicia Boco. Dan Samuel is a dancer while Felicia Boco is a singer. They performed solos and earned themselves spots in the next round. Another singer, Debbie also earned a spot in the next round thanks to her good vocals.

Benin City came out blazing with DNA dance crew stomping, crumping and break dancing to secure a spot in the next round. Their efforts paid off. It’s safe to say the highlight of the show was when our very own judge, Kate, was moved to tears by Jude James rendition of the late Michael Jackson’s ‘Heal the world’. The judges gave a unanimous vote which ushered him to the next round.

The journey so far on the show has been exciting and we do hope you are enjoying it. If you missed any of the episodes or would like to re-watch, click on the videos section on our website and don’t forget to keep the conversation going on a social media platforms.
