Gulder Ultimate Search Season 9: Episode 6 (Ayo Ojueromi Out For Losing Golden Key)

On his first visit to their camp, Chidi Mokeme, Gulder Ultimate Search 9 Anchor man, harped on the importance of the Golden Keys when he personally handed them over to each of the 12 contestants. He very much stated that the consequence of losing the key was eviction. Just a day later, Chidi was livid at the careless manner the contestants hung their Golden Keys from the roof of their camp.

Ayo Ojueromi ought to have taken special care of her Golden Key. It was nowhere to be found as the contestants prepared for their first assembly at The Place of The Talking Drum. She was obviously livid that her Key was lost and the remaining contestants promised to help her search for it after returning.

They consoled her that Chidi may either not notice, or that the consequences of the loss of the Golden Key may be a mere reprimand or punishment. They were wrong on both assumptions. Chidi did notice. The absence of the Golden Key around her neck stood her out of the pack like a sore thumb.

She explained that she wore someone else’s key after the morning’s task and hung it on the totem back in the camp. By evening, her Golden Key could not be found. And the consequence for her key loss was eviction.

It was the second defeat she faced that day. The first was being among the team that lost the day’s task. The task for the day was a team-based game. Ogbuefi Michael was given the privilege of dividing the remaining contestants into two teams for the group task; as part of the reward for winning the previous day’s task.

After identifying the weaker team, he was asked to join them. The task involved assembling the pieces of a puzzle with the aid of a compass.

At the end of the games, the team comprising: Ogbuefi Michael, Bonford Patience, Ayo Ojueromi, Adah Uleh James, Udodi Priscillia and Ojezele Paschal Eronmose lost. And the punishment? They were to prepare a live cockerel for the winning team comprising: Uzoma Oluchi Osimpka, Ifet Iniobong, Ujam Chukwunonso Emmanuel, Ezeh Priscillia and Haruna Nuhu Zigwayi. Worse still, they were not to partake in the eating. Such punishment for individuals who had not had a proper meal since arriving camp!

Perhaps, they should count themselves lucky for not cooking the cockerel, which they nicknamed Michael, when they first sighted it on camp in the wee hours of the morning; despite their hunger.

The decision over whether to kill and cook ‘cockerel Michael’, without salt and pepper, was put to a vote. The votes swung in favour of those that suggested that ‘cockerel Michael’ should be kept alive for an hour before cooking him. Maybe having to go for the day’s task, before the one hour wait elapsed, probably saved them the wrath of the Council of Elders; who may not have given permission that the cockerel be slain at that time.
