Gulder Ultimate Search Season 11: EPISODE 25 – END OF THE ROAD FOR SAMANTHA

Samantha’s incredible journey on Gulder Ultimate Search 11 which started at The Heart of the Hunter, came to an end at The Snake’s Village.

All remaining five contestants had gone to the task ground for the day’s challenge. Five workstations were provided and Chidi Mokeme explained the modalities of the game, including the fact that the contestants would make use of boxes, which were covered by mats.

The contestants removed the mats to unveil only four boxes having the names of Cosy, Emmanuel, Chinedu and Otto. Samantha had no box bearing her name and she started to giggle, knowing the fate that had befallen her. Her inability to complete the earlier day’s Infinity task ended her Gulder Ultimate Search 11 journey. Chidi evicted her.

Even though her eviction was unexpected and shocking, Samantha did not exit the game looking downcast.

Full of smiles, the Last Woman Standing said she felt very good, adding that she thoroughly enjoyed her stay as a contestant. Speaking on her achievements despite her small frame, Samatha said: “It’s not really about my size but about my thinking capabilities. And most of the time, my size was my motivation. People thought I will not be able to do some things because they think I am fragile due to my small frame. But I look at myself and I tell myself, I know I can do this even though people think I can’t do it.”

Samantha’s parting words were directed to Cosy and it read: “Cosy, let the grace keep you. Love you.”

Chidi warned the remaining contestants that the day’s challenge named Code Box, was a multi-level contest. The answer to the riddle on their workstation was the code which would open the boxes which had their names. They were to pick axes inside the boxes and drop the boxes behind the task area; then use the axes to bring down a set of tiles strapped to palm trees. They would then solve a puzzle with the tiles.

After getting the answer, the trio of Otto, Chinedu and Emmanuel rushed to drop their boxes. Otto mistakenly hit Emmanuel with his box. Emmanuel later said it was really hard to concentrate trying to solve the puzzle because of the pain he felt, but had to trudge on.

Cosy was still fumbling with the locks when Chidi sent him back to his workstation to complete the puzzle before attempting to unlock the box. He soon figured out the answer to the riddle and joined his fellow contestants as they tried to solve the puzzle.

Chinedu chose to fix his puzzle on the ground first, before transferring to his board. He however fixed the puzzle upside down; and Chidi told him he was wrong. In a show of impatience, Chinedu attempted to turn his workstation upside down, but could not because the board was fixed to the box it was leaning on. He soon re-arranged the tiles and became the first to solve the puzzle. Emmanuel was the second person to fix the puzzle followed by Cosy. Otto was unsuccessful in fixing the puzzle.

Chidi commended Chinedu for being innovative and thinking out of the box by working on the floor instead of arranging the puzzles on his work station.

When Chidi asked Otto what went wrong, Otto said he felt they were meant to fix a skeletal system; whereas the tiles formed the shape of a warrior clutching a shield and a sword. Otto then confessed that he was better at solving riddles than fixing puzzles. Chidi then asked him what was going through his head and Otto answered that he feared eviction. He took a cue from the Samantha scenario in which the Last Female Contestant standing was evicted a day after she failed her task.

Otto was then stripped of his Tribe leadership and the baton fell on Chinedu who won the task.

Back at camp, the usually jovial Otto appeared withdrawn and wore a forlorn look. Even when Emmanuel, Cosy and Chinedu chatted about the day’s challenge and also discussed Samantha’s commendable performance on Gulder Ultimate Search, Otto remained quiet.

Otto appealed to the Council of Elders to overlook his poor performance. He pleaded: “I really don’t like being left in suspense, but right now I am left in suspense. If there’s a way to remain in the show, I would really want to remain in the show. At the same time, I’d like to appeal to the Council of Elders to temper justice with mercy.”

Emmanuel however said that Otto would not be evicted. He pointed out: “I don’t think we’ll have to wait till tomorrow to find out if Otto will be evicted. If it was going to happen, it would have happened today.”

Earlier in the day, the contestants found the remaining parts of the map with scrolls attached, at The Place Of The Broken Dream and the Circle of Palms.
