Exclusive Pictures From the Nigerian Idol Owerri Auditions

The early rains in Owerri couldn’t keep people back in their homes as contestants braved the heavy downpour to arrive at the Imo Concord Hotel, audition venue as early as 7:00am. Registrations started in earnest and Idol hopefuls were accredited on time. Within a short time, the audition hall was filled to capacity and marshals had to step up to keep pace with the contestants.

Just as it were in previous audition cities visited, fun and entertainment is an integral part of the auditions. Various competitions were held, ranging from dance competitions, mini Idol contestants where contestants were asked to perform the lead sponsor’s theme song for season III. Winners got etisalat goodie bags, branded items from Pepsi and ‘Beat by Dre’ head sets.

Also, Obiwon, Chuddy K and Wizboy were at the auditions dishing out their favourite tracks to the admiration of the contestants. It almost turned to a club Karaoke session as people sang along with them forcing them to take a pause while the contestants sang as if they recorded the songs together.

It was really an entertaining and mind blowing experience.
