Vanessa Williams back in Park Avenue, which premieres 18 January on M-Net Series

Vanessa Williams has moved into a new apartment now that Desperate Housewives is over. She’s moved in with Terry O’Quinn who’s also moved to New York after wasting too many years looking for answers on Lost.

They’re living in a pricey, restored Manhattan block called the Drake in the supernatural thriller 666 Park Avenue.

They star as Olivia and Gavin Doran – owners of the Drake who lure the tenants into their dark web and then make them regret it. Gavin’s definitely evil, it’s not as easy to tell whether or not Olivia is too.

M-Net Series has confirmed they have the show for an early 2013 premiere – it starts on Friday, 18 January at 21h30 – it takes over from American Horror Story 2 once it ends.

I’ve seen the first couple of episodes and its good fun. It’s not necessarily ground breaking but it’s definitely a cool watch, filled with the sorts of twisted strangers and demonic situations one hopes to avoid in life.

What I really like about it is that it has strong overtones of Faust. Faust makes a deal with the devil for something he desperately wants and things go BAD when the devil arrives to collect.

The story centres round dating couple Henry – played by Brothers and Sisters’. Dave Annable (looking scrawny) – and Jane, played by Australian actress Rachael Taylor.

Henry’s an up-and-coming lawyer who has political aspirations and she’s an architect. They take a job at the Drake as the building managers in exchange for an apartment and soon the building and Gavin and Olivia take over their lives and relationship.

They also divide them as Jane becomes convinced that a dark and demonic force lives in the building. And of course, she’s right.

The series premiered in the US in September and hasn’t been doing too well in the ratings unfortunately – a trend that’s happening with too many fun shows at the moment – so it isn’t clear whether it’s going to get second season or not. I’m holding thumbs that it does.
