88.9 Brila FM, has added to its already exciting content with the acquisition of the exclusive rights to air the Champions League commentaries in Nigeria on matches involving Barcelona of Spain.
The deal takes effect from today (Wednesday 4) when the station takes live commentaries straight from the Camp Nou when the Blaugrana lock horns with their Portuguese counterparts, Benfica, in the competition.
The right, another addition to an interesting array that includes the English Premiership, Capital One Cup (formerly known as Carling Cup), the English FA Cup and home matches of all the national teams in the country, is expected to generate thrills among the country’s soccer lovers.
Barcelona, with its galaxy of stars, continues to add to its tremendous fan-base across the world, Nigeria included, owing to its unique playing style, talented players and undying thirst for laurels.
And the sports radio, keen as ever at delivering its promise to inform and entertain sports fans in the country, has gone a length further in its bid to satisfy numerous listeners through continual content enrichment.
Chairman of the organisation, Dr. Larry Izamoje, in a statement released shortly after the rights acquisition, reiterated the commitment of Sports Radio 88.9 Brila FM, which recently added Kaduna and Onitsha to its Lagos and Abuja arms, to fish across the world for relevant and interesting content, all aimed at improving the sports goodies traditionally associated with the station.
“We value our listeners and will go to any length to give them a thrilling experience by getting the best, the most current and the most entertaining of sports content delivered daily,” he said.
“This has been and is still our promise to our listeners, which we have over the years made concerted effort at achieving, not only through quality programming but via valuable partnerships as well.”
The Barcelona deal gives Brila FM the exclusive rights to air the commentaries of all Champions League matches of the Catalan side. It is the first time Barcelona had signed any kind of partnership agreement with an African radio station.
