Oprah’s interview with Lance Armstrong airs in Africa Friday 18 January on Discovery TLC

Oprah’s interviewing Lance Armstrong this week. The interview will be handled similarly to her interview with Bieber in that it’s going to be a global event.

It airs on her OWN network in the US this Thursday and will air in Africa on Discovery TLC (DStv channel 172) on Friday (18 January) at 6:30pm (West African time).

The initial screening will be followed by three repeats at these times:
– Saturday, 19 January at 11:50am
– Sunday 20 January at 4:50pm
– Monday 21 January at 10:35am

Late last week an anonymous insider sparked speculation that Lance will be ‘fessing up to some of his many, many, many wrong doings – which worries and frustrates me like you can’t believe.

I’m terrified that the entire thing’s going to catapult him from zero to hero. In fact, I have no doubt that it’s going to happen and that it would happen if he were interviewed on any show.

You know how irrational and annoying things go when someone admits to their wrong doings – they become more of a saint than if they’d never done them!

People who’ve never commited such deeds never get idolised for not doing them but if you do them and then apologise you become a role model. Worshipped. Loved. Revered. Idolised. Earn billions. It’s madness and not fair!

It’s the same thing with criminals who’ve been in prison and “change their lives around” – all they need to do is say they’ve changed, that they’re doing good deeds and suddenly they get more glory than anyone else.

I’m convinced that Lance’s interview’s going to spark a meme of many people saying things like: “Oh you know, we all make me mistakes – it was so big of him to admit to them – what a trooper! What a saint! He is the next Dalai Lama.”

Things will then get even more ludicrous and unfair when he makes millions off a deal for a book titled: “How to cheat and lie your way to becoming a hero.”
