Nigerian Idol is celebrating the season of love and the launch of its top 12 phase of the competition with a phenomenal show, set for Saturday, February 16, 2012. Stellar artists such as Tiwa Savage, Naeto C, and Lynxx are ready to set the stage on fire at Civic Centre, Victoria Island with amazing performances—and, Nigeria’s top 12 Idol contestants will be there to perform right alongside them. It will be a night of ‘Golden Love Songs’, as the contenders perform some of the world’s greatest odes to passion; love songs whose roots are right here in Nigeria. Expect a night of romance kindled by exceptional singers and a truly Valentine’s atmosphere.

“Season three has been the best yet,” said Opeyemi Odugbemi, Project Manager for the show. “These contestants have worked hard to get where they are in the top 12, and they are the cream of the crop when it comes to vocal talent in this country. It is going to be an exclusive night of food, love, and music that is sure to make you smile, dance and fall in love again. I cannot wait to see what they have in store for what I’m sure will be an unparalleled night of entertainment.”

The stage is getting bigger and the lights brighter as Nigerian Idol gears up and heads into its top 12 phase. Some of the country’s brightest young stars have come and gone; some defeated by the ordeal of the competition, others standing firm in triumph. In all, 12 contestants from all over the country pulled through to make it into this final phase of the show, and now, they will make their official debut in a night that will showcase their extraordinary talent as they perform love songs written/sung by Nigerians.

This exclusive invite-only event will hold at the scenic Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, and start at 3:00 pm with a black carpet, with the performance show beginning at 5:00 PM on Saturday, February 16, 2012.

Watch Nigerian Idol on Saturday on NTA at 3:00pm, Sound City and ONTV at 7:00pm, Silverbird at 7:30pm, Superscreen at 6:30pm and TVC at 9:30pm, to watch the results show. Then, catch all-new performances on Sunday on NTA at 3:30pm, Sound City and ONTV at 7:00pm, Silverbird at 8:00 pm, TVC at 8:30 pm and Superscreen at 9:30pm  to watch the wild card contestants have their shot at the grand prize.

The power to decide the fate of one of the contestant lies in the hands of you, Nigeria, so vote by texting the number of your favourite contestant to 33680, from any network. You can also vote for a contestant by dialling his/her number of any using an Etisalat line.

The top prize for this season is worth a superb $100,000, in which the lucky winner will get: 7.5 million naira in cash, a recording contract also worth 7.5 million naira, and a brand new SUV. Runner-ups will not be left out as they will be given prizes to the tune of 10 million naira.
