M.I, ONYEKA ONWENU and REGGIE ROCKSTONE have official been annouced by Globacom as the judges for Glo X-Factor.

M.I

M.I’s encounter with Hip-Hop started with sampling the worlds of DMX and Lauryn Hill in 1998. Whilst at University in the USA, he performed at all the major hip-hop and R&B shows, concerts in school, and later came third in the Calvin College “Hip hopera” 2003.

He returned to Nigeria in 2005 to find the local music industry on the verge of a revolution and was set to take African Hip-Hop to new heights. M.I has been described by DIV as the future of African Hip-Hop.

He has produced and featured on the works of artists like, Don Jazzy, Ice Prince, Ruby & Leony.

He won the City People Award – Artist of the Year 2012 and the UN ambassador on Drugs and Crime in 2012.

REGGIE ROCKSTONE

Reggie Rockstone, the acclaimed pioneer of HipLife has spent his whole career making music relevant to the audience. Mixing the already popular American beats with Twi lyrics ensured a whole generation were able to hear and feel music relevant to them.

The HipLife movement caught on and was widely embraced all over the region. He has maintained his audience and relevance with each album. His debut “Makaa Maka” released in the early 1990S still has a strong following . Successive albums “Me Na Me Kae, Me Ka” and “Last Show” continued his presence in the regional musical scene. His 2010 release of “Reggiestration” introduced him to a whole new generation of music lovers.

Reggie has won a Kora music award for his music video “AH” as well as shared the stage with international performers such as Shaggy and Beenieman. He is an artist with a cross border appeal and the respect of both his fellow musicians as well as fans for the work he has done for the African Music Industry.

ONYEKA ONWENU

Onyeka is truly a Nigerian Stateswoman of music, art and culture. Her entire career is dedicated to entertainment and making a positive change.

With her foundation in music she found another avenue to express her creativity; Films. A prolific film resume spanning years illustrates her crossover appeal and continuing public and peer support. In 2006, she won the African Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a supporting role.

She is currently the chairperson of the Imo State Council for Arts and Culture continuing her passion to unite the continent through music.

In late 2012 Onyeka released her first single off the upcoming album “The Legend” a compilation release, which was received with rave reviews.

Ensuring her role within the African music scene is followed by another generation.
