Mr. Emeka Mba, new director general, National Broadcasting Commission (NBC),has assumed duty following his appointment by the federal government last week.
He replaced Yomi Bolarinwa, and on his arrival at the NBC headquarters, Mba was received by the board of management of the Commission led Mr. Mark Ojiah, secretary of the Commission.
In the spirit of his assumption of duty, the new director general met with the management of the Commission and later proceeded to meet with the entire staff of the Commission.
Ojiah, welcomed the new director general to the Commission and presented the staff to him.
He informed staff that the DG would later go around the various offices to meet one on one with every staff member and probably ask some pertinent questions on what he or she does so that he could get an overview of the Commission’s operations first hand.
Mba in his remarks, thanked members of staff of the Commission for the warm reception accorded him and added that it was a tremendous opportunity for him to be a part of the National Broadcasting Commission.
He further added that the NBC had one of the most arduous tasks of any government agency at the moment considering the political developments in the country, and commended the staff of the Commission for their track record.
Mba also told the staff that the Commission in the past had single -handedly done an excellent job and prayed that he be able to continue with the laid down tradition and assured staff of his support and hoped that he could also count on their support.
The new director general further added that it was a huge honour for him to be made the chief executive of the NBC and promised that he would not fail in his own responsibilities to staff adding that from the record of hardwork of staff of the Commission, his job as the DG was sure to be successful.
Mallam Awwalu Salihu, head, public affairs, responding on behalf of the staff of the Commission, welcomed the new director general in the traditional style of the Commission and assured the DG that the Commission had a robust workforce of high quality staff, diligent and dedicated to their jobs assuring the new director general that they were ready to support him towards a successful tenure.
Before his new appointment, Mba had served as director general the Nigerian Film and Video Censor’’s Board after a stint in private sector, including the position of regulatory Affairs manager at Multichoice Nigeria.
