You don’t mess with Madea! this June on M-Net Movies

Mabel “Madea” Simmons is Tyler Perry’s most famous character, and there’s no doubt about it – audiences love her. The loud-mouthed, cuss-slinging, often gun-toting grandma has earned herself a cult following for her antics and outbursts and her undying loyalty to her family.

Having first appeared in Tyler Perry’s 1999 stage play, I Can Do Bad All By Myself, Madea has appeared in seven of Tyler Perry’s films, taking the title role in four of these. December 2013 will see her next big screen appearance, inTyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas.

Perry is said to have based Madea, in parts, on his mother and aunt. He was also inspired by Eddie Murphy’s performance in The Klumps. But influences aside, there is nobody like Madea – and there probably shouldn’t be; the judicial system couldn’t handle it.

Mother to three children (Michelle, William, and Cora), Madea has been married to nine different men – all of whom she has killed, either by wielding a gun or a poisoned sweet potato pie. You don’t mess with Madea, and over the last couple of years, she has even taken to Twitter to prove exactly why.

This month, Madea is storming across our screens, as part of M-Net Movies‘ Tyler Perry Festival. Here’s what’s in store:
