VIDEO: GUS 10 Episode 9 – Ifunanya Marks First Task Has Spears Leader With Yet Another Loss

The Spears camp appeared enlivened following Ema’s exit and Ifunanya’s ascension to leadership. The members exuded humour. Even with high spirits, the Swords still got the better of them in the day’s Key and Prisoner challenge.

It was designed to test the warriors’ coordination skills. The task involved different stages. In the first stage each tribe was to retrieve a key which hung atop two palm trees and then release two members of their tribe locked up in a prison. To retrieve the key, three members of each tribe would tie the end of three ropes entangled up the trees round their waists and in a coordinated movement untangle the ropes to release the key attached to the end of one of the ropes. Once the key is released the prisoners would be set free to begin the next stage.

In the second stage the released prisoners who have a key would dash, one after the other, across the river following a path marked by flags; make their way through an obstacle, climb a palm tree to retrieve the puzzle sacks and then make their way back through the same path and drop the puzzle sacks at the assembling point. When the two sacks have been retrieved then the solving would begin.

To untangle the ropes, the Swords used all the female warriors while Eddy and Bobby served as the prisoners. Anthony and Peter played prisoners for the Spears while the remaining three untangled the ropes. Since the Spears were a warrior short, Kunle of the Swords only came in to assist in solving the puzzle.

Both tribes had a good start releasing their prisoners almost at the same time. However while on the tree to unlock the box and retrieve the first puzzle sack, Bobby outsmarted Anthony, thus giving the Swords a good lead and an eventual victory. Their reward was a rooster.
