What to expect at the #AMVCA2014

Get ready for the second edition of the AfricaMagic Viewers Choice Awards which will be held on Saturday, 8 March in Lagos.

This year a total of 29 awards will be awarded ranging from acting and directing to scriptwriting and cinematography, with nine of those categories being voted for by the viewers.

Here is some of the things keeping us super excited about the AMVCAs:

The red carpet
It’s guaranteed to be a glamorous affair on the red carpet as some stars have even mentioned that they several dress options to choose from. The red carpet special which will begin at 5pm WAT will be hosted by Channel O VJ Denrele Edun, alongside Eku Edewor.

The Hosts
A spectacular show deserves spectacular hosts, and this year the AMVCA is giving us spectacular in threefold with IK Osakioduwa, Vimbai Mutinihri and Osas Ighodaro.

The Nominees
The AMVCAs will celebrate the best talent in African film and and the list of nominees is proof that they have been doing a stellar job.

Nominees include actors like Desmond Elliot, Chris Attoh, Majid Michel, Hlomla Dandalaand Osita Iheme amongst others.

Actresses like Tamara Eteimo, Bikiya Graham-Douglas, Funke Akindele, Yvonne Okoro, Jackie Appiah and Nse Ikpe-Etim are also nominated in various categories.

Some of the nominees have been talking about how the AMVCA nominations make them feel.

Some have even expressed that an AMVCA nomination is as good as a win. 

Kenyan nominees received a special AMVCA sendoff party while in Lagos nominees came out to break bread at the AMVCA brunch.

The performances
Guests can expect to be thoroughly entertained with thrilling performances from award-winning Kakadu the Musical, as well as Davido, Flavour, Bez and songstress Waje.

The Grand Prize
The AMVCAs will ultimately determine who is to be crowned the winner in their respective categories and walk away with the AMVCA trophy.

The most contested and highly anticipated category being the Best movie 2013 with movies like Last Flight to Abuja, Flower Girl, Contract and Awakening as nominees.
