The TV Media Sport agency has acquired the rights to IAAF World Athletics Series events in sub-Saharan Africa for the next four years.

The rights, which include two world championships, Beijing 2015 and London 2017, have been sold by Eurovision, the IAAF’s broadcast rights partner for Europe and Africa.

TV Media Sport, which positions itself as an international agency but is most known for its work in Africa, will now be tasked with distributing the rights across 49 African nations.

The agency previously sold the rights for this year’s world indoor championships in Poland in the same territories. It is currently selling the IAAF Continental Cup to broadcasters across the continent.

TV Media Sport chief executive Hédi Hamel said the agency was “delighted by this agreement which shows TVMS’s privileged role in delivering exposure to world athletics through our network of national and private TV partners in the African continent”.

A statement from the agency said it would be distributing a ‘dedicated signal with commentaries in both English and French for all events’.
