Gulder Ultimate Search Season 11: Episode 10 – Governor Obiano of Anambra State Visits The Contestants Camp

The contestants received a VIP guest at their camp – His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano, the Executive Governor of Anambra State. After being introduced to each contestant by Chidi Mokeme the Anchor man, he asked how they were coping in the jungle. He also sought to know if they built their sheds themselves. Chief Obiano wondered what it felt like when it rains; to which the contestants answered that they take the weather elements as they come

The governor said:

“I identify myself with the Gulder Ultimate Search. I was a very active member of the Boys Scout, so I understand the jungle. I understand what is happening around here. I really identify myself with what you are doing with the youths. It is really going to give them a good sense of belonging and challenge. And Gulder Ultimate Search is about challenges, because you have left your beautiful environment to come to the jungle, in the midst of mosquitoes, animals, birds and so on. I think it’s quite interesting to be here because you will be very close to nature. Very early in the morning, you will hear the birds sing, you will hear the animals roar. It’s a beautiful place to be. I’m looking forward to presenting the trophy to the winner later on.”

The day’s challenge called ‘Protect The Fire’, was a continuation of the contestants’ protection training. According to Chidi, it was geared towards testing the contestants’ partnership skills, commitment to team spirit, strength, vertigo and balance.

Each team mate had a role to play. One of the contestants would run to the stream, fill the pot to the brim with water then walk up a special platform. He will then put one leg on the pivot and lift it while the other team mate would help ensure that the pot is balanced and then leave it.

The other team mate would pick up firewood, set up a fireplace and roast the yam in the fastest possible time right under the clay pot; while the other teammate tried to stay balanced without dropping the pot of water over the yam.

Team Blue’s pot was not properly placed and it fell, dousing their fire, thus ending the game for them.

Team Green’s Loretta appeared to lose balance while her team mate, Blessing held the pot, in a bid to prevent it from tilting. Loretta screamed at Blessing not to touch the pot, but they fell on deaf ears. The team broke the rule that no contestant should hold the pot, hence they were also out of the game. Blessing shed tears at their loss.

Team Purple’s Cosy had earlier beckoned on Ikenna I to speed up the process of roasting the yam. He soon got exhausted after suspending the clay pot full of water on one leg. At this point, Ikenna I pleaded with him to tarry a while as the yam was roasted and he had already beckoned on Chidi to taste it and certify it done. Cosy let go and the Purple team were also out of the game. Ikenna I said his partner let go because he had “an ant in his pant.”

Team Orange won their first ever task on Gulder Ultimate Search 11 after Chidi certified Chinedu’s yam as fully roasted. Sandra screamed to high heavens when it dawned on her that the team had scored seven points. Team Indigo emerged second, while teams Yellow, Red, Purple, Green and Blue emerged third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.
