SILVASTONE - TRANSITION

TRANSITIONS is the much anticipated new project from renowned producer turned artist SILVASTONE. The excellent EP features 9 diverse tracks showcasing his varied production sound range, song-writing talents and versatile vocal styles.

The EP clearly draws inspiration from Silvastone’s Ghana and Sierra Leone upbringing — plus his extensive travels around Africa, as its strong backbone and then creatively merges the sounds he has grown up listening to as a resident in cosmopolitan London. African beats are interlaced with Dancehall, Hip-hop, One drop, R&B, Dubstep, Trap, Soca and Drum&Bass soundscapes. In doing so Silvastone illustrates a uniquely different Afro-British sound throughout Transitions.

Kicking off with the heavily synth-driven EDM inspired ‘Show Me’ and then straight into the bashy ‘Bus Ma Head’ Silvastone immediately demonstrates the adventurous journey ahead. Along the way he picks up Africa’s undisputed number one rapperSarkodie for ‘Lady’ and then UK Hip-hop legend Blak Twang who purposefully hitch-hikes on the anthemic street ode ‘My Life’. Turn-up! The soulful ‘Lay Your Head Down’ will definitely have you reaching for the rewind gear whilst ‘Tear Drops’ takes you on a much welcomed reggae diversion. ‘Skatta‘ continues that dancehall excursion as Silvastone conceptually plays sound-system DJ hinting to some of the songs that inspired his musical pursuits. Somewhere along the way he sweetly serenades Africa on ‘Loving My Baby’. And, just when you thought things couldn’t get any more creative you find yourself swaying, bopping and jumping frantically to the hugely epic ‘Human Being’.

SILVASTONE - TRANSITION BACK

As Silvastone puts it, “The EP is my transition from producer to artist. Every song is a transition from one genre style to another. In addition it’s a reflection of the transitions I have gone through in my life especially in recent times. This is Life. This is Love. The Good Times. The Hustle. And, it’s also about pushing the new sound of young Africa through its own transitions.”

Along the road to transitions the artist/producer has enjoyed an overwhelming great response to his debut expanded project with regular rotation on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra,CapitalXtra, and numerous other networks around the UK and of course Africa. Featured tracks including the lead singles Bus Ma Head, Loving My Baby and Human Being are currently enjoying spins from DJ Edu, Ras Kwame, Trevor Nelson, Zane Lowe and more. Keen supporter Mistajam has already confirmed the entire EP as his ‘Jam Hot Record Of The Week’ on 1Xtra upon its first week of release.
