#CHOAMVA14 Countdown: Most Gifted Newcomer | Vote Now!

By Nosa O:

Newcomer awards are usually dreaded in other award shows as most artists fear it might represent their artistic peak. But that’s nothing for our Most Gifted Newcomer nominees to worry about. The category has birthed stars like Ice Prince, D’banj, and L-Tido.

Let’s take a look at the nominees for the 2014 Channel O Africa Music Videos Awards Most Gifted Newcomer category.

Dream Team feat. Tamarsha, AKA and Big NuzTsekede

This young South African trio delivered the soundtrack to your summer in Tsekede. They enlist the help of arguably the hottest rapper in Africa presently, AKA, and kwaito group Big Nuz.

Cassper NyovestDoc Shebeleza

Already nominated in the Most Gifted Male category, Nyovest should be pretty much familiar right now and it’s absolutely understandable – Doc Shebeleza is a huge record.

Emmy Gee feat. AB Crazy and DJ DimplezRands and Nairas

Rands and Nairas probably has the catchiest hook heard this year. It gives you this weird urge to stand on the couch and wave imaginary bundles of rands and nairas in the air.

DiamondNumber One

This has been an incredible year for Diamond. From getting Davido to hop on the remix to this song to featuring on Africa’s biggest collaboration, taking home the Most Gifted Newcomer award would be the icing on the cake.

Patoranking feat. Tiwa SavageGirlie O (Remix)

Since parting ways with Timaya‘s Dem Mama Records earlier this year, Patoranking’s buzz has been on the up. The Tiwa Savage feature came from left field, but their chemistry on the record is undeniable.
