ACTV, new home grown pay TV goes live December 1

African Cable Television, (ACTV) pronounced ACTIVE, ‎a Nigerian -owned multi-media company that offers direct-to-home (DTH) pay-TV services, will be launched on December 1,according to the owners.

‎The station which has already injected about N5 billion into the acquisition of sophisticated and state-of-the- art equipment for its operations, will be available on different local channels at the commencement of its service offerings.

The gesture, according to the station was to promote local content in the era of global digital broadcasting‎.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday to declare the Stations intent to add value to the Nigeria’s DHT pay-tv market, Mr. Godfrey Orkeh, managing director and chief executive officer of ACTV, said that they are poised to offer multi-media entertainment to enthusiasts in Nigeria, especially, who has been denied quality content at an affordable price, in the past.

With a wide array of channels in four distinct packages, African Cable Television ‎announced that it shall make all its channels accessible to every subscribers who sign-up to the service between now and December 31, 2014, under a promotion subscription package for a month.

Orkeh said, “We want all our customers to have the opportunity to access our channels as we bring them to life starting ‎from December 1st till 31st, so that they can choose the subscription package that best addresses their TV entertainment needs. We will be offering four packages, namely, ACTV prime, ACTV family, ACTV Family Max and ACTV Premium.

“We believe that our customers will spend this end of year season with a choice of TV channels that address the needs of every member of their families and friends. In order to access our service, we are offering our customers the ACTV-6000 HD PVR at an attractive price”.

The MD/CEO added that the Station has a vision to be the DTH-TV operator that is renowned for offering quality entertainment content and a broad spectrum of choice offerings to its subscribers.‎

“With the launch of ACTV today, we are saying to Nigerians that we are committed to ensuring that we provide value to everyone and that we keep delivering value now and in the future”.

Orkeh explained that ACTV is launching with a decoder that incorporates fast boot up time, smooth channel change, clear and simple multi-layer menu for users to quickly reach their desired features.

‎On his part, Mr. Joseph Chitanta, vice president and chief operating officer of ACTV, said that, from the onset, the management was focused on offering subscribers quality content, especially, that is of the highest relevance to them.

He said, “We strongly believe that providing all our customers with exceptional customer service, decoders that integrate state-of-the-art equipment technologies including high definition TV, PVR and pause TV coupled with TV programming will not only increase their entertainment experience , but also significantly save them time by providing them with programs that address their needs”.

Chitanta also believes that Nigeria is a large market size that can accommodate multi pay-TV operators, which is a good thing for customers, and offers them choices.

‎ACTV was incorporated in Nigeria in the year 2013 to offer classical digital TV satellite services to the subscribers.
