2014’s memorable TV entertainment moments

Entertainment_BG

2014 has been a great year and our entertainers sure delivered on great music, memorable performances in movies and on TV, and all those talked about moments on and off the red carpet.

I wished that I had PVRd all these special moments on my DStv Explora so I can watch them again.

Avoid FOMO this festive season by making sure to PVR all your favourite movies, series, sport matches and kiddies shows with your DStv Explora. Then you can watch at your leisure, as many times as you want to. I promise not to judge, because that’s what I like doing as well.

Here are some of my favourite moments in entertainment this past year that I will like to relive.

Ellen’s Academy Awards selfie
Yes, 2014 was definitely a year where anyone and everyone took hundreds of selfies, but no selfie came close to the star-studded selfie taken by TV host Ellen Degeneres.

Remember that you can watch Ellen on M-Net, weekdays at 4pm WAT on M-Net and M-Net East and 6pm WAT on M-Net West, for her dancing, interviews with our favourite celebrities and those amazing games only she can come up with.

Beyoncé’s mini-concert at the VMAs
The MTV Video Music Awards is one of the most fun music award shows around with lots of drama and great performances.

But this year, Beyoncé’s performance of her visual album. Beyoncé, ranked as one of the most memorable performances in VMA history. She performed the entire album in just 14 minutes! And afterwards, her proud husband, rapper Jay Z, and daughter Blue Ivy awarded her with the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award.

This Beyoncé album has received six nominations for the 2015 Grammy Awards. This makes Bey the female artist with the most Grammy nominations in history.

Kimye weds
Yes, we wish we could have missed this one, as Kim Kardashian took another trip down the aisle, but we must admit, we were glued to our TV screens, when their reality show featured some behind-the-scenes footage of what led up to the third most-talked-about wedding of 2014 (after Solange and George Clooney’s wedding of course).

Their wedding picture on Instagram is the most liked picture on Instagram… ever!

If you missed this wedding, you can watch the finale of Keeping Up with the Kardashians on DStv Catch Up and relive some nervous moments by the Kardashian clan ahead of the I do’s.

Jimmy Fallon craziness on MTV
We were oh so grateful when MTV decided to bring us the second season of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. And to get us all psyched up, they brought us an entire week of Jimmy Fallon classics, including the evolution of hip hop dancing with Will Smith. This was undoubtedly one of our favourite episodes… EVER!

You can watch this long-running show, and laugh along, weeknights at 5:50pm WAT only on MTV.

Pharrell Williams makes us very Happy
Thank you Pharrell! Amid all the drama, war and conflict in 2014, there was a silver lining when the world had happy fever, and it was all thanks to Pharrell Williams.

The song is infectious and had us all dancing and singing along.

The year of the super woman
2014 was undoubtedly a year which paid off for so many actresses including Lupita Nyong’o,Shailene Woodley and Gugu Mbatha Raw.

After years of hard work, the movie industry finally took note as these stars finally received the recognition they so richly deserve.

Not only did Lupita win the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award, but Shailene andGugu had everyone raving with their incredible performances in The Fault In Our Stars andBelle respectively.

With everything 2014 had me all talking about, I can’t wait to see what 2015 has in store for your entertainment pleasure.

What are you waiting for? Go out there and buy your DStv Explora this festive season.
