Microsoft has confirmed there are now over 200,000 apps in the Windows Store, and that there are currently over 585,000 apps in the Windows Store and Windows Phone Store combined.

The new numbers comes from Microsoft’s “By The Numbers” website, which is updated on a regular basis with new information about the company’s products and services. WinBeta got word via a Microsoft spokesperson that 200,000 of those apps are available in the Windows Store, which means there are now 385,000 apps in the Windows Phone Store.

This milestone comes even as Microsoft is planning to combined the Windows Store and Windows Phone Store into one with the launch of Windows 10 and the use of universal apps that will work with smartphones, tablets and PCs. VLC is a recent example of one that has embraced Microsoft’s universal app strategy.
