A year after the kidnapping, CNN’s Isha Sesay says the call remains the same: #BringBackOurGirls

When it comes to activist TV news anchors there’s few so brilliant, focused and doggedly determined to keep a story and a cause that’s personally very important to her not just in the news but on the global news agenda like CNN International’s Isha Sesay and the #BringBackOurGirls.

It’s exactly a year this week since hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls were abducted in Nigeria where the country’s leadership has done very little in the past year to get them back and to reunite the girls with their distraught families.

CNN International’s Isha Sesay has been exemplary in her ongoing coverage and continued, dedicated focus on tracking the story, keeping pressure on the Nigerian government in interviews and continuing to seek answers.

“It’s hard to believe that this tragedy occured a year this week,” said Isha Sesay.

“The hashtag #BringBackOurGirls was a global rallying point last year. A year may have gone by, but the call for the return of these girls must go on,” Isha Sesay told CNN’s global viewers on Monday night on CNN NewsCenter.

Isha Sesay has now created the hashtag #365DaysOn and asked viewers to send their messages on Tuesday using this hashtag and #Bring BackOurGirls.

Isha Sesay said she’s going to run as many of them as she can on Tuesday’s CNN NewsCenter.
