Apple sends out invites for September 12th event
Apple has today sent out invites for a press event, which is set to take place on the 12th September. The invite features the tagline “It’s almost here” with the number 12 – referring to the date of the event. However, the shadow from the number 12 morphs into a prominent 5, which potentially means the next generation iPhone will be unveiled at the press event.
Apple’s press event will take place at the traditional venue for big unveilings, San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and will begin at 10am PT (6pm WAT).
The number 5 also makes it appear that the next generation iPhone is set to be called the iPhone 5 as it has been referred to by the media. The iPhone 4S was technically Apple’s fifth iPhone, and it was unknown whether the tech giant would brand the smartphone “The New iPhone” as they did with their latest iPad release.
Rumour mill has gone into overdrive lately, with Apple not confirming anything. It is thought that the iPhone 5 will sport a bigger screen along with a smaller docking connector in order to keep the product as thin as possible.
However, the one thing that is certain is that the iPhone 5 will ship with the brand new iOS 6, which Apple unveiled back in June.
The iPhone 5 will undoubtedly headline the event but it is thought the company will unveil other products as well, with rumours pointing toward a refreshed iPod line-up and the iPad mini.
