‘The Money Drop’ is coming to Africa and the first stop is Nigeria!

AfricaMagic is on a hot streak and just two weeks after announcing that it will host the AfricaMagic Viewers’ Choice Awards in association with MultiChoice, it has more good news in store for DStv viewers!

Let them know what you think, and if you’re going to audition, in the comments section below or on the AfricaMagic Twitter feed using the hash tag #MoneyDropNG

M-Net Africa Managing Director Biola Alabi today revealed that AfricaMagic Entertainment will be screening an all-Nigerian version of the hit international game show The Money Drop. The highest selling format since 2010 for producers Endemol, the series has already been sold in key markets across Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Asia.

Now it is coming to Africa and the first stop is Nigeria!

The format of the series is simple but captivating. In each episode a pair of contestants start off with a USD 100 000 in hard cash. Just 8 questions stand between them and their money. Sounds simple, right? Think again! One wrong move, and they could see all their cash disappear through a trapdoor. So the question is…Can you beat The Money Drop?

Alabi is looking forward to the upcoming series and says, “Anytime you put together the elements of risk, reward, cash and emotion, the outcome is going to be exciting and dramatic television. So get set for great entertainment with The Money Drop. It’s a unique game show because this time round you start with the money and then play to keep it!”

She goes on to state, “We are very proud to be screening an all-Nigerian version of this series and believe that it will go a long way to keep our audiences engaged with our glamorous AfricaMagic Entertainment channel, which is already the home to Tinsel, Jacob’s Cross, 53 Extra, StarGist, IsidingoGenerations and so much more.”

With production on the series set to begin in November, AfricaMagic Entertainment is gearing up to hold auditions for the series in Lagos (October 20 and 21), Abuja (October 27 and 28), Port Harcourt (November 3 and 4) and Kaduna (November 10) before the audition team stops back in Lagos on November 12 for one last audition day.

For information on audition venues and entry criteria, log on to www.africamagic.tv. Make sure you print out the entry form, complete it and bring it to the audition venue. However, for those entrants who cannot do this, forms will be available at audition venues as well.

Plus, interested persons will be pleased to note that entry to auditions is FREE, just show up and take a chance. You never know…it might be you sharing the spotlight with USD 100 000!

Also make absolutely sure you tune in when the series is screened on AfricaMagic Entertainment in January. It’s going to be thrilling, edge of your seat, tension-fueled fun!
