Gulder Ultimate Search Season 9: Episode 5 (Kofya Brown is First Evictee)

Kofya Brown, the 25 year old, Computer Science undergraduate, became the first contender to be evicted from Gulder Ultimate Search 9. She failed the first test of Christopher Okagbue, one of the three Gulder Ultimate Search 9 Gatekeepers, thus ending her quest in search of the Gatekeeper’s fortune.

The first Gatekeeper’s test was the Mental Endurance Challenge. The contenders were to cross a lake, using a canoe as a bridge. They would come across a set of symbols which they would memorise. They were then to get three wooden stacks comprising a replica of the symbols, placed at different locations on the task ground. They were to arrange the symbols on a workstation provided for them in the same format the original symbols were arranged.

After putting the puzzles together, they would call the attention of Christopher Okagbue who told them if they had arranged it correctly or wrongly. If the symbol arrangement was inaccurate, they were to go back to the spot where the symbols were correctly arranged and try to rectify their errors.

After several attempts by all the contenders at solving the challenge, Ogbuefi Michael emerged winner of the task. His reward was a bar of soap. He grinned when he picked up his reward, as did the remaining contestants when he showed them the bar of soap. They probably expected food, which was the reward of the previous day’s task.

In the words of Chidi Mokeme: “Michael, you are handsome, you look like a hunk, but handsomeness is nothing without hygiene. The Council of Elders has rewarded you adequately. So even though you are in the jungle, you can smell and feel fresh.”

For failing the test, Kofya Brown’s Golden Key was taken from her by Christopher Okagbue and she was asked to leave the Gulder Ultimate Search 9 camp immediately. She was also a half of the pair that lost the task the previous day.

Teary-eyed Kofya had a few words for her 7 year old daughter: “And to Jessica, don’t mind my tears, mummy loves you. Just know that even if I’m out here, I’ll still continue to do my best to give you what you deserve in life, okay?”

Earlier, Chidi Mokeme paid a surprise visit to the contenders’ camp and expressed disappointment at the haphazard manner they hung the prized golden keys on the camp roof. He instructed that they should construct a totem on which they would hang the keys. Chidi also directed that they should expand and beautify their camp which he described as a shanty.

Gulder Ultimate Search is the flagship sponsorship property of the Gulder brand, from the stables of Nigerian Breweries Plc. It is Nigeria’s longest-running 100 per cent local content reality TV show, which has been running since 2004.
