Gulder Ultimate Search: Episode 17 (Lessons In Teamwork As Michael Saves Uzor…Twice)

In truth, only one of the several of thousands that apply can attain the exalted position of Ultimate Hero; yet, team spiritedness is a trait which the Ultimate Champion must imbibe on the quest.

On their 14th day in the Usaka jungle, the remaining eight warriors were tasked on teamwork. They formed two teams: Priscillia Ezeh, James Adah, Paschal Eronmose and Ifet Iniobong made up Team A. Team B comprised Ogbuefi Michael, Onyinye Udodi, Uzor Osimpka and Nuhu Zigwayi.

The challenge involved the four warrior members of each team gliding down a river, going up an island and climbing over an obstacle course before returning to the game starting point using a rope stretched across a river. Each team was to undertake this trip thrice and on each occasion carry different objects: a basket of palm kernels, a stack of firewood and a cockerel. Two cockerels were provided. Team A’s cockerel was named Johnny while Team B’s was named Rocky. All members had to return to the starting point together.

Each team was required to return each of the objects intact. Johnny and Rocky were also required alive at the starting point.

At the end of the challenge, Team A won. Team B could not match Team A’s timing in task completion. Team B’s stack of wood was also returned incomplete.

The highlight of the challenge was the rescue of Uzor Osimpka by Michael Ogbuefi as she drifted away given the high current of the river on the first two trips. But for Michael’s quick instinct in saving her on both occasions, Uzor may have glided away.

For emerging winners, Johnny was handed over to Team A. As punishment, Team B members were to cook the cockerel, but forbidden to eat out of it.

Later at The Place of The Talking Drum, the warriors presented their play and dance drama. Chidi Mokeme, the Anchor man, also directed that the warriors should appear at the next task with their faces painted ready for war. He directed that no two faces should be painted alike.
