Africa’s Next Top Model Episode 2: Steffi, Marwa drop the ball

The chosen 12 girls got settled down in the Africa’s Next Top Model house but for two of them the first challenge was a knockout.

Oluchi welcomed the girls and already different types of personalities were mixing up in the house.

Before the first challenge the girls got the infamous reality check make overs that produced quite a few tears.

22-year-old Marwa from Tunisia was devastated that they had to cut her hair into a bob. She said she had promised her fiancée that she would not cut her hair.

Some loved their makeovers, like Ghana’s Roselyn, who got a big blonde afro wig and South Africa’s Michelle, who got a red dye in her locks.

Renowned photographer and panel judge Remi Adetiba directed the girls in their first challenge where they had to sell themselves and their personalities at a shoot for the Africa’s Next Top Model logo.

Shooting the video for the opening sequence proved to be the fun part as Oluchi joined the girls as they danced around.

The hard part came when the girls had to do stills which would form part of their portfolio. Some of the girls really struggled, like Marwa, who didn’t know what to do with herself. Remi said at the judging panel that she fell flat.

Although Steffi thought she did well, the judges felt that she was reserved and might have been intimidated by the other girls.

There were rave reviews for SA’s Michelle and the clear favourite and winner of the challenge was Uganda’s Aamito who was emotional at the shoot.

Oluchi handed out the images of the girls who were still in the running for Africa’s Next Top Model and in the end Marwa and Steffi were told to pack their bags and go home.

Maarwa was very emotional at the news, while Steffi took it as a learning curve and vowed to keep at it.

Stay tuned as the girls pack up and head to Johannesburg for a fashion show with a top designer on Africa’s Next Top model on Sunday 24 November  at 6pm (WAT) on AfricaMagic Entertainment.
