NBC Orders Radio Stations to Suspend Ban on Nigerian artistes; But Cool FM’s Dotun Is Not Happy
The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has ordered the Broadcasting Organasation of Nigeria (BON) and the Independent Broadcasting Society of Nigeria, IBAN, to lift the ban imposed on all Nigerian artistes registered with the Copyrights Society of Nigeria ( COSON).
BON/IBAN had placed a ban on Nigerian artists in the later part of 2013 over unpaid royalties of artistes. There was a fierce battle between BON/IBAN and COSON over this, and the NBC has ordered BON to suspend the ban.
So there you have it, everyone is happy right? Not so fast, Dotun of Cool FM didn’t seem too thrilled about the decision and took to twitter to speak his own mind.
