3Vision Distribution takes COSAFA out of Africa
3Vision Distribution has agreed a partnership with the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) to distribute TV rights to the 2014 COSAFA Cup.
The company will be responsible for selling the rights to the competition outside of sub-Saharan Africa. It is the first time that the national team competition, which is now in its 15th edition, will be available to viewers outside the region.
Coverage of the 14-team tournament will be produced in high definition by Supersport and SABC.
Mike McKibbin, the international sales and marketing director for UK-based 3Vision Distribution, said the partnership “goes to demonstrate the increasing popularity of African football players and taps into the seemingly inexhaustible appetite for live football on premium distribution platforms around the globe”.
3Vision Distribution’s other work in soccer includes sales of international rights to European champions Real Madrid’s pre-season games.
Zambia were crowned Cosafa Cup champions on home soil in 2013, beating Zimbabwe in the final.
