Gulder Ultimate Search Season 11: EPISODE 18 – EVI IS FIRST FEMALE LEADER

Poor Otto! It just was not his day. Twenty-four hours earlier, he had won the very first innovative challenge of Gulder Ultimate Search 11 and he was empowered to evict the current occupants of the VIP tents and replace them with contestants of his choice.

That morning, a message from the Council of Elders directed him as Head Warrior, to teach all the warriors to move without their second sense.

Just before the commencement of the day’s challenge, Chidi performed a leadership audit by asking him which of the contestants stayed in the VIP tents.

Ottosaid he did not make any change since the camp was peaceful. On Chidi’s prompting, the other warriors confirmed that the camp was peaceful.

Chidi accused him of running a leadership aimed at pleasing everybody and that not wanting to rock the boat meant something was wrong.

When Chidi asked him how about the instruction from the Council of Elders about training the warriors to move with their second sense, he responded: “My understanding of that instruction is for us to be spontaneous and impulsive in our actions, for us to think within 25 frames and before a second we should have come up with our decision and act spontaneously and directly without doubting our instinct.”

Chidi’s referred to his speech as gibberish. The Anchor man told Otto that second sense meant the sense of hearing. He also accused him of misleading the whole tribe. Chidi promised to deal with him after the challenge.

The task – named ‘The Answer’ – involved contestants going over and under several obstacles blindfolded, to retrieve a set of tiles. They were then to make their way back to the starting point, dropping the tiles at their work stations. After retrieving all five tiles, they were to call on Chidi, who would then ask them to remove their blindfolds and solve the puzzle, which involved numbering Roman numerals.

Evi finished her puzzle first, Cosy second, Chinedu third, Otto fourth, Emmanuel fifth and Ikenna sixth. Noela was seventh placed while both Samantha and Sharon did not complete theirs. Sharon arranged her numbers in reverse while Samantha said she was not good at Roman numerals and knew she would flop from the beginning.
As punishment, they were both burdened with the Stump of Shame. Emmanuel offered to have the Stump of Shame tied around his leg because he said Sharon was injured during one of the group tasks. Sharon offered to serve out the punishment herself. Coincidentally, Sharon said she would never carry the Stump of Shame just a day earlier.

Chidi was not done yet with the punishments. For failing to train the contestants for the day’s task, Otto was asked to stand on a platform at their camp till sunset. He was also to serve out his punishment blindfolded. The other warriors who stayed in private tents alongside Otto were described as his ‘inner caucus’ and were also to serve the same punishment. Chidi said Noela, Emmanuel and Ikenna ought to have advised him properly, but they did not. Hesaid if they laughed together during good times, they also ought to go down together during the not so good times.

True to word, the platforms were on camp when the contestants arrived and they were promptly blindfolded and made to stand on them.

Chinedu and Cosy made fun of the punished contestants. Being the only three who were left unpunished, Chinedu, Cosy and Evi played a game.

To while away time, the punished contestants played a game of names and at a point, Noela sang. At sunset, Noela called out to Evi who then removed the blindfold and they all came down from the platform.
