#BigBrotherHotshots: IK’s wardrobe gets a revamp from Mai Atafo

Mai Atafo

Seasoned host IK returns to your TV screens for the sixth time on Big Brother Africa, this time suited up in a revamped wardrobe. Not that his previous looks can be faulted, but to live up to season 9’s Hotshot theme, Big Brother has enlisted the services of Hotshot in his own right, Mai Atafo.

Dubbed as one of Nigeria’s rising fashion designers, Mai started his bespoke clothing label Mai Atafo Inspired in 2007 and describes it as having “an African heart and an international view”.

As such, viewers can look forward to something a little extra during Hotshots live eviction shows. IK will be kitted in an assortment of classic, tailored and stylish suits in different prints, textures and silhouettes. Add to that, an unmistakably African touch to each look.

This couldn’t be more fitting as it plugs into the wider global trending status that African fashion is currently enjoying. Ankara, Kente and Shweshwe are fast becoming regular features on tailored, Western designs; literally breathing life into them – will we be seeing a lot of these on IK these season? Well, we’ll have to wait for Mai to start doing his thing. According to his website, Mai says his brand is known for its “clean cut aesthetics, fashion forward designs as well as its contemporary touch to classic clothing designs”.

IK joined the Big Brother Africa family in 2009 on Big Brother The Revolution and has been the epitome of the show since then. His charm and charisma have kept BBA audiences glued to their screens as one never knows what stunt he may pull next – if it’s not twerking, it could well be planting a kiss on one of the housemate’s cheeks, IK is unpredictable like that. One thing is certain though, the brother cleans up well and Mai will definitely have a great time sprucing him up.

Big Brother Hotshots launches on Sunday 5 October 2014 at 6pm WAT . Follow the action in the lead-up to the premiere on Twitter, by liking the Big Brother Africa Facebook page and following us on Instagram @BigBro_Africa.
