Brila FM Acquires FA and Capital One Cup Radio Rights

Barely weeks after acquiring exclusive rights to live radio commentaries for the English Premier League in Nigeria, Sports Radio 88.9 Brila FM has gone a step further by bagging sole rights for the FA and Capital One Cup competitions from talkSPORT, the London-based Global audio rights owners.

Hardly allowing the dust to settle after the applause that greeted the acquisition of the EPL rights, the outfit, Nigeria and Africa’s first all-sports radio station, has through the deal strengthened its position as a frontline sports media outfit, having for years dictated the trends by setting new benchmarks regularly, through creative programming, talent development and groundbreaking partnerships- local and foreign.

Determined to deliver on its self-imposed mandate of serving sporting activities and information hot to Nigerian sports lovers, the station had also, prior to the Capital One and English FA Cup deal, wrapped things up on the home front by becoming the Official Radio Partner to the Nigeria Football Federation in a pact that will avail listeners of the station the opportunity to listen live to commentaries of all the games of the national teams organized by the NFF.

According to the Chairman/CEO Brila Group, Dr. Larry Izamoje, the recent acquisition of rights by the all-sports outfit is aimed at ensuring sustained excitement and entertainment of fans, not only through live commentaries but also via the provision of up-to-date information from all corners of the world.

“Recent rights acquisitions have definitely enriched our content and will go a long way in making listenership a more robust and complete experience for the followers of the station, who will now have access to live match commentaries from different competitions and tournaments both locally and internationally.”

Dr. Izamoje is also confident that the experiences gleaned from these partnerships will be used to contribute to Nigerian Football in a fresh way as official radio partner of the NFF. Apart from Capital One and FA Cup radio commentaries, Brila FM also has English Barclays Premier League, Skysports News Radio, NFF, VOA among others on its ever growing list of partnerships/franchises.
