Three years after its entry into the Nigerian market, subscribers of the NTA/Startimes digital paid television have hit 1.3 million.

Zonal Director of Startimes, Mr Yian Dong confirmed this in an interview at the sideline of the 2013 Nigeria advancement awards in Abuja at the weekend.

He said the company which is in technical partnership with the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), was presently in 16 major cities, adding that it was rolling out its services in 15 more cities before the year ends.

He said, “technical hitches have been overcome in the last three years and consequently our quality has improved. We are poised to make digital television in every home in Nigeria and beyond.”

The company won the satellite television provider of the year at the awards.

While justifying the awards, Mr. Dong said, “I can’t find any digital television provider that is working so hard like StarTimes to provide quality and affordable digital television services to every home.”

The zonal director said, “two years before (now), we had some challenges. Customers were worried but that is now over. StarTimes has developed into an affordable and dependable digital television provider.”

He said the company has over 200 Nigerian employees in its customer center department apart from other departments, adding that with the expansion drive, more Nigerians would be employed.

He urged Nigerians to “trust StarTimes and you will never regret.”
